Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation Awards $271,500 In Grants To 31 Non-Profits In Taunton-Attleboro And Northern Rhode Island
The organizations that received grants from the Foundation are as follows:
Taunton/Attleboro area, $158,000 – Attleboro Area Interfaith Collaborative ($10,000); Attleboro YMCA ($25,000); Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South ($15,000); Community Access to Rides (CAR) Program ($5,000); Hockomock Area YMCA ($50,000); North Attleborough Historical Society ($2,500); Old Colony Historical Society ($5,000); Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen ($7,500); Safe Coalition ($5,000); Society of St. Vincent de Paul District Council of Attleboro ($10,000); Society of St. Vincent de Paul Taunton District, Inc. ($3,000); The Literacy Center ($10,000); and True Diversity, Inc. ($10,000).
Northern Rhode Island area, $113,500 – Art Connection-Rhode Island ($1000); Beacon Charter Schools ($5,000); Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island, Inc. ($10,000); Generation Citizen, Inc. ($5,000); Girls on the Run Rhode Island ($2,500); Habitat for Humanity of Greater Providence and East Bay ($10,000); Hasbro Children’s Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Center ($5,000); HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care ($10,000); Mini Entrepreneurs of Rhode Island($2,500); Providence Children’s Museum ($7,500); Rhode Island Black Heritage Society ($5,000); Reach Out and Read Rhode Island ($4,000); Rhode Island Tutorial & Educational Services, Inc. ($5,000); The Capital Food Fund ($5,000); The Fly Initiative ($6,000); The Learning Community Charter School ($5,000), The Pawtucket Foundation ($15,000); and YMCA of Pawtucket ($10,000).
Patrick J. Murray, Jr., President of the BCSCF and President & CEO of BCSB, awarded the grants to the organizations. Also participating in the event were: Don Grebien, Mayor, City of Pawtucket; Shaunna O’Connell, Mayor, City of Taunton; and representatives from the BCSCF advisory boards and the Bank’s area branches.
“As we are a community bank, we gravitate toward people who are helping people and what better example of that than the non-profit organizations we are supporting today,” said Murray. “We look forward to seeing the positive impact of these grants as we continue to realize our mission of making the communities we serve a better place to live and work.”
Bristol County Savings Bank is an active supporter in the communities in which it serves. The Foundation was established in 1996 as part of the Bank’s 150th Anniversary celebration. Its purpose is to fund needs that contribute to the economic and the social well-being of the people and institutions located in the greater Taunton/Attleboro region, the greater New Bedford/Dartmouth region, the greater Fall River region and the northern Rhode Island region, with particular emphasis in the areas of education and literacy, economic development and housing for the low- to moderate-income population. In 2020, the Foundation added an additional area of focus supporting organizations that are on the frontlines of the pandemic or experiencing hardship as a result.
