Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation Awards $531,975 in Grants to 58 Non-Profits in Communities the Bank Serves

TAUNTON, MA, July 08, 2024 — Bristol County Savings Bank’s Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation (BCSCF) awarded grants totaling $531,975 to 58 non-profit organizations in the Taunton/Attleboro, New Bedford-Dartmouth/Fall River and northern Rhode Island regions during a ceremony today at White’s of Westport in Westport, Massachusetts.  Since the Foundation was formed in 1996, more than $32 million has been committed to hundreds of different non-profits in the communities the Bank serves.  In 2023, the Foundation awarded a record $2.3 million to various 501(c)(3) organizations.

The organizations that received grants from the Foundation are as follows:

Taunton/Attleboro area, $133,750 – American Credit Counseling Services ($2,500), Applause Academy ($2,500), Franklin Food Pantry Incorporated ($10,000), Grit & Grace Sober Living ($5,000), Horizons For Homeless Children ($5,000), Junior Achievement of Southern MA ($10,000), Manet Community Health Center ($10,000), Old Colony Habitat for Humanity ($50,000), Pave Your Path, Inc. ($5,000), Pride, Inc. ($10,000), Reach Out & Read ($2,500), Rehoboth Antiquarian Society ($7,500), SMARTS Collaborative ($2,000) and Triumph, Inc. ($11,750).

New Bedford-Dartmouth/Fall River area, $223,725 – Argosy Collegiate Charter School ($10,000), Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Bedford ($10,000), Coalition for Health Equity & Early Development – HEED ($25,000), Dennison Memorial Community Center ($5,000), Discovery Language Academy ($5,000), LEADS ($7,500), Lynch Leadership Academy ($15,000), Meeting Street Massachusetts ($5,225), Nativity Preparatory School of New Bedford ($10,000), New Bedford Festival Theatre ($7,500), New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center, Inc. ($5,000), New Bedford Star Kids Scholarship Program ($10,000), New Bedford Whaling Museum ($5,000), Our Sisters’ School, Inc. ($10,000), Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School ($10,000), School on Wheels of Massachusetts ($5,000), Seven Hills Behavioral Health ($6,000), uAspire ($5,000), The Bridge: A Center for Hope and Healing ($10,000), 3rd Eye Youth Empowerment ($5,000), UMass Dartmouth Foundation ($25,000), Veterans Transition House ($10,000), YEAH! Corps ($7,500) and YWCA of Southeastern Massachusetts ($10,000).

Northern Rhode Island area, $174,500 – Amenity Aid ($2,500), Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy ($10,000), Books Are Wings ($7,500), Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket ($16,000), Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Rhode Island ($10,000), Camp Ruggles Inc. ($3,000); Children’s Friend & Service ($5,000); Crossroads Rhode Island ($10,000); Family Service of Rhode Island ($10,000), Father Flanagan’s Boys Home ($6,000), Federal Hill House Association ($10,000), Junior Achievement of Rhode Island ($5,000); Mae Organization, Inc. ($6,000); McAuley Ministries ($5,000), Meals on Wheels of RI ($10,000), Rhode Island Community Food Bank ($10,000), Shea Fashion ($7,500), The Arc of Blackstone Valley ($10,000); Thundermist Health Center ($6,000) and YWCA Rhode Island ($25,000).

Patrick J. Murray, Jr., President of the BCSCF and Chairman of the Board & CEO of BCSB, awarded the grants to the organizations. Also participating in the event were: Paul Coogan, Mayor, City of Fall River; Don Grebien, Mayor, City of Pawtucket and Janet Barbosa, Director of Special Projects & Programs, Mayor Jon Mitchell’s office, City of New Bedford; and representatives from the BCSCF advisory boards and the Bank’s area branches.

“In keeping with the Bank’s mission of supporting our local neighborhoods to meet the growing needs of the population, our Foundation is proud to grant more than a half million dollars today to these 58 deserving non-profit organizations doing good work in our communities,” said Murray.

Bristol County Savings Bank is an active supporter in the communities in which it serves. The Foundation was established in 1996 as part of the Bank’s 150th Anniversary celebration.  Its purpose is to fund needs that contribute to the economic and the social well-being of the people and institutions located in the greater Taunton/Attleboro region, the greater New Bedford/Dartmouth region, the greater Fall River region and the northern Rhode Island region, with particular emphasis in the areas of education and literacy, economic development and housing for the low- to moderate-income population.
